Inspired by human problem-solving, the method includes two components: World Knowledge Distillation (WKD), where LLMs internalize domain knowledge from tool-based solutions, and Tool Usage Adaptation (TUA), which trains models to assess problem complexity and adapt their approach.

Validated on six scientific datasets across mathematics, climate science, and epidemiology, the method improved accuracy by 28.18% and tool usage precision by 13.89%, outperforming leading models like GPT-4o and Claude-3.5.
