The Role

Forward Future is building the largest technology newsletter in the world. We're at 70K subscribers. We need to be at 7M. That gap is your job.

This is not a marketing role. It's an engineering role with a growth mandate. You'll design and run systems — acquisition funnels, engagement experiments, retention loops — with the same rigor a software engineer brings to a codebase. You ship fast, measure everything, and kill what doesn't work.

What You'll Own

  • Acquisition — Referral mechanics, paid channels (Meta, X, Beehiiv Boosts), SEO archive pages, newsletter swap partnerships. You'll know our CAC per channel to the dollar and have a thesis on where the next 100K subscribers come from.
  • Engagement — Structured subject line testing, send-time optimization by segment, click and reply rate analysis by content type. No gut feel. Every change is a hypothesis with a measurement plan.
  • Retention — The first 7-day onboarding sequence. Reactivation campaigns for dormant readers. Ruthless list hygiene. You'll track churn patterns and know why people leave before they do.
  • Tooling — Microsites, downloadable assets, an AI tool and prompt library, an AI fluency test. You build the digital infrastructure that makes our content stickier and our audience smarter.

What We're Looking For

  • You are AI-native, not AI-curious. You use agents to automate workflows, write code to build your own tools, and reach for Claude or GPT before you reach for a vendor. Agentic coding is a core part of how you work — not a nice-to-have.
  • You're deeply analytical. You've built growth models, run experiments, and made decisions from data. You know the difference between a metric that matters and a vanity number.
  • You're experimental by default. You have a backlog of ideas ranked by expected value. You run tests in parallel. You don't wait for permission.
  • You've grown something before — a newsletter, a community, a consumer product. You know what it feels like when a funnel works and when it's lying to you.

What This Isn't

This isn't a role where you manage an agency or a budget. You build, run, and iterate yourself. We're lean on purpose. The leverage here comes from your systems, not your headcount.

Beehiiv, Meta Ads, X Ads, Ahrefs, basic Python or JS scripting, Claude/GPT APIs, whatever else you bring that works.
